Nydia Mendez
27 Years of Service
Childcare Subsidy Supervisor
Nydia Mendez joined the Urban League of Hudson County, Inc. in July of 1995 as an Administrative Assistant to the Director of Children’s Services. She quickly learned the everyday tasks of the childcare program and throughout the years worked her way up to different positions such as Voucher Data Entry Specialist for New Jersey Cares for Kids (NJCK); Counselor for Work First New Jersey (WFNJ); Manager for Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF); WFNJ Supervisor; Quality Assurance & Policy Supervisor; and her most recent position as Childcare Subsidy Supervisor. Reflecting on her time with the agency, Nydia had this to say:
During these 27 years, the Urban League has helped me develop self-reliance, interpersonal skills, maturity, teamwork, self-confidence, and self-esteem among many other skills. This allowed me to manage a productive and successful program. I am honored to be part of the Urban League family, a great group of Managers, and the program staff. I could not have found a better or more honorable agency for which to work. As an employee, I have always brought creativity, dedication, experience, and personal knowledge to the workplace.
