Lucy (“Luz”) Garcia started working at the Urban League of Hudson County in 1997 as a Receptionist/On-Site Coordinator for the former General Assistance Inspection Network or G.A.I.N. Program. Shortly thereafter, she received a promotion to the position of Clerical Assistance in the New Jersey Cares for Kids Day Care Department before becoming the Administrative Assistant in the agency’s Health and Human Services Department. In that position, Ms. Garcia received the agency’s Award of Excellence in recognition of her arduous work and dedication to her job. In 2014 she was promoted to her current position in the Electronic Child Care Payment Department.
Luz Garcia is a graduate of Hudson County Vocational High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix. Ms. Garcia believes in giving back to her community and has served as Vice President of Ferris High School’s Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and Vice President/Treasurer of the Board of Trustees/Treasures for the Schomburg Charter School. She is a proud mother of 2 sons and grandmother to 4 grandchildren.
